New Delhi: Biographical drama based on the life of former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, has won the best feature film award at the 69th National Film Awards for 2021.
Allu Arjun took away the honour of Best Actor for his stellar performance in the movie Pushpa (The Rise Part I).
Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon were adjudged the joint winners for the Best Actress Award category for their films Gangubai Kathiawadi and Mimi, respectively. Shoojit Sircar's Sardar Udham won Best Hindi Film.
Vivek Agnihotri’s film The Kashmir Files won Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration. The Jury for the 69th National Film Awards comprising of eminent filmmakers and film personalities from across the Indian entertainment industry announced the winners for the year 2021 today.
The awards were announced by Ketan Mehta, Chairperson, Feature Films Jury, Vasanth S Sai, Chairperson, Non-feature Films Jury, Yatindra Mishra, Best Writing on Cinema Jury.
Ek Tha Gaon directed by Srishti Lakhera was awarded in the Best Non-Feature Film, while RRR bagged the award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
Gandhi&Co. was awarded Best Children's Film while Nikhil Mahajan who directed Marathi film Godavari (The Holy Water) was awarded Best Direction award. Actors Pankaj Tripathi and Pallavi Joshi were adjudged Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress for their films Mimi and The Kashmir Files respectively. Bhavin Rabari won Best Child Artist award for his Gujarati film Chhello Show.
“It was a very tough competition between all the films in every category. My congratulations and best wishes are with the winners. Today India is the largest film maker in the world. We have the potential to become the content hub of the world. This is our time. Today our films are being recognised all over the world, be it BAFTA or the Oscars," Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur said. (UNI)
