Amitabh Bachchan join TRS MP's Green India challenge, plant sapling

Hyderabad: Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Rajya Sabha MP J Santosh Kumar's Green India Challenge and planted a sapling.

He planted the sapling at the Ramoji Film City on the outskirts of Hyderabad in the presence of, among others, actor Akkineni Nagarjuna and producer Ashwini Dutt.

Speaking on the occasion, Bachchan praised Santosh Kumar's efforts to develop greenery which would definitely benefit future generations.

Meanwhile, Mr Kumar tweeted Team #GreenIndiaChallenge is delighted to have you on board SuperStar @SrBachchan ji! It’s privilege for all of us. Honoured to be with you while you plant a sapling. Your kind encouraging words for your fans and others to take this up would mean a lot for us sir @iamnagarjuna

He also tweeted Presented @SrBachchan ji with #VrukshaVedam book and explained him about the contents. He’s shown very much interest in it and appreciated the efforts to bring the details to the light. Pleasure that he said he would go though the entire book leisurely and spread the word.

In another tweet, he said Thank you @iamnagarjuna garu & @AshwiniDuttCh garu for accompanying @SrBachchan ji as he planted saplings as part of #GreenIndiaChallenge. The very purpose of this initiative to increase the green cover can be achieved by the active participation of personalities like you. (UNI)
