New Delhi: Bollywood fraternity on Saturday congratulated the team of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Gully Boy’ for being selected as India’s official entry to Oscars 2020 in the best foreign film category.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Karan Johar posted, “My absolute favourite film of the year is the official Indian entry for the OSCARS!!!! #GullyBoy all the way! Zoya Akhtar is my favourite Indian filmmaker! Well done boys @FarOutAkhtar @ritesh_sid get the gold statue home!!! So excited !! @aliaa08 @RanveerOfficial and the team!”

Directed by Zoya Akhtar, ‘Gully Boy’ is about Murad (Ranveer), a rapper from the slums of Mumbai, who wants to rise above his socio-economic status to become a star. Despite being discouraged over and over again, he manages to take the underground rap scene by storm.
