New Delhi: Bollywood heartthrob Shahid Kapoor, known for his versatile acting, celebrates his 43rd birthday on Sunday.

Born on February 25, 1981, in Delhi, Kapoor has come a long way in the film industry, inheriting his talent from his renowned actor father, Pankaj Kapoor.

Kapoor commenced his acting journey with advertisement films before making his debut in the 2003 release "Ishq Vishk," earning him the Filmfare Best Actor Debut Award. Despite initial setbacks in films like "Fida" and "36 China Town," Kapoor found his breakthrough in Sooraj Barjatya's "Vivaah" (2006), solidifying his place in Bollywood.

The 2007 hit "Jab We Met," directed by Imtiaz Ali, marked a turning point in Kapoor's career, showcasing his chemistry with Kareena Kapoor and earning him a Filmfare Best Actor nomination. The 2009 film "Kaminey" further solidified his standing, with a double role and a Filmfare Best Actor win.

However, the period from 2010 to 2012 saw Kapoor facing career challenges with films like "Mausam" and "Teri Meri Kahani" not performing well at the box office. A resurgence came in 2013 with films like "Phata Poster Nikhla Hero" and "R. Rajkumar," where Kapoor's action-packed performance impressed audiences.

The pinnacle of Kapoor's career arrived with the 2014 release "Haider," directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, earning him a Filmfare Best Actor Award. In 2015, Kapoor tied the knot with Mira Rajput, bringing a new chapter to his personal life.

Recent years have witnessed Kapoor's success with films like "Udta Punjab," "Rangoon," "Padmavat," "Kabir Singh," and "Jersey." With several upcoming projects, including "Deva," Kapoor continues to captivate audiences and solidify his status as a Bollywood powerhouse.
