Bollywood veteran Danny Denzongpa celebrates 77th birthday

New Delhi: Bollywood's renowned character actor, Danny Denzongpa, marked his 77th birthday on Sunday, still going strong in a glittering career that spans nearly four decades.
 
Born on February 25, 1948, Danny initially aspired to join the army but later shifted gears towards acting, receiving training at the Pune Film and Television Institute.
 
Despite initial struggles and roles in B-grade films, Danny's breakthrough came with Gulzar's "Mere Apne." The turning point in his career was the 1973 film "Dhund," where he portrayed a domineering handicapped man, earning accolades for his measured performance.
 
Known for his compelling villainous roles in films like "Agneepath" alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Danny successfully diversified his roles in the '90s. Notably, his portrayal of Salman Khan's father in "Sanam Bewafa" earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1991.
 
In 1992, Danny received the same award for his role in "Khuda Gawah," solidifying his position as a versatile actor. His love for horses and horse riding, along with interests in writing, painting, and sculpture, adds another layer to his multifaceted personality.
 
With the Padma Shri honour bestowed on him in 2003, Danny remains active in the film industry, showcasing unwavering enthusiasm for his craft.
