Washington: In its latest movie 'Encanto', Disney has created a character wearing glasses on the request of a 12-year-old girl.

According to BBC, Lowri, from Chilwell in Nottinghamshire, had written a letter to Disney asking them to create a character with glasses. At the time she was 9-years-old.

Citing the reason for writing to Disney, she said, "I felt a bit alone and I didn't feel like I was beautiful enough."

"I was just so happy that, even if it wasn't from my letter or anything, young girls and boys now have a role model to look up to. The character 'Mirabel', who is shown wearing glasses, is funny and brave," Lowri said.

The film is about a family living in a magical place called 'Encanto', where every child has a super power except for Mirabel, BBC reported.

The movie was released last year.

Meanwhile, Jared Bush, writer and director of 'Encanto', tweeted that when Lowri had written to Disney about her wish the company was already planning for a film starring a character with glasses.

"3 years ago, Lowri wrote Disney asking for a heroine with glasses. I couldn't say that her wish was already coming true! BUT watch the clip for the answer to a big question: Why doesn't Julieta "fix" Mirabel or Agustín's eyesight. It's who they are and she wouldn't want to change it," he said on Wednesday.

According to BBC, Lowri has written a book about a princess who wears glasses and she is an ambassador for a sight charity. (UNI)
