Mumbai: Basking in the success of I Want To Talk, Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan has revealed that he agreed to embrace an unconventional potbellied look for the film by shedding off his vanity for the sake of authenticity.
Sharing insights into why he decided to flaunt a potbellied look in the film while avoiding similar manoeuvres in other movies. the 48-year-old actor in an exclusive interview with Galatta Plus dwelt on the challenges of balancing an actor’s vanity with authenticity.
He noted that he was comfortable shedding off that vanity, citing examples of his previous movies like Guru, Big Bull, and Bob Biswas, where he had a big stomach. He opined that it was the reason director Shoojit Sircar chose him for the role in I Want To Talk.
The actor unveiled that he scraped off his scepticism about going all out with this natural physique and readily agreed to Shoojit Sircar's offer.
“The reasoning there was that the character, ACP Jai Dixit, is a tough guy; he is not going to walk around shirtless. He's not that guy. If anything, he'll have a vest. He doesn't need to show his body to assert his power. That was my thinking. Sometimes people get that, sometimes people don't. But I need to get it because I need to portray it,” he stated.
Directed by Shoojit Sircar, 'I Want To Talk' has garnered critical acclaim for its slice-of-life storytelling and heartfelt performances. The film, which hit the theatres on November 22, features an ensemble cast, including Pearle Dey, Ahilya Bambroo, Jayant Kripalani, Kristin Goddard and Johny Lever.
