Laal Singh Chaddha crawls at box office, Fails to capitalize holidays

Mumbai: Unabated appeals for the boycott and non captivating storyline has marred the much touted comeback flick of Aamir Khan "Laal Singh Chaddha" at box office. The movie fared up so poorly in the commercial terms that it logged single digit collection despite a holiday(15th August) which has been a fruitful day for the filmmakers in the past.

Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer, which is an official remake of Forrest Gump had a disastrous begining at the box office considering the star studded star cast and the budget. The movie had the additional leverage of an extended weekend but all goes begging due to the online boycott calls which were further stoked due to few controversial scenes. In 5 days the mega budget movie has only 46 crores in its kitty, out of which 3 were holidays.

The Akshay kumar led Rakshabandhan failed to catch the festive vibes around the bro sis code. From the word go, the flick was underperforming by not going past double digit even once. It is the third flop of Akshay Kumar in a trot after Bachchan Pandey and Prithviraj faltered at box office. It is expected that both the movies will be wrapped up under 100 crores life time collection. (WD)
