Hyderabad: Expressing deep disappointment over the demolition of the N Convention Centre, a property owned by him, by the Hyderabad Disaster Management and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) officials in the morning, Actor Nagarjuna on Saturday clarified that the land on which the N Convention Centre stands is a ‘Patta land’ and not even an inch of tank plan is encroached.”

Officials from the HYDRAA, accompanied by local police, demolished the N Convention centre owned by renowned Tollywood actor Nagarjuna, situated near Shilparamam in the city, on Saturday morning.

The demolition follows allegations that the convention centre was illegally constructed by encroaching upon Tammidi Cheruvu, a local water body.

Responding over the demolition of the N Convention Centre, Actor Nagarjuna in an ‘X’ post said “ I was Pained by the unlawful manner of demolition carried out in respect of N Convention, contrary to existing stay orders and Court cases”.

“I thought it fit to issue this statement to place on record certain facts for protecting my reputation and to indicate that we have not done any actions in violation of law”, he said.

The land is Patta land, and not even an inch of tank plan is encroached. In respect of the building constructed inside the private land, there is a stay order granted against any earlier illegal notice for demolition, the actor said.

The demolition was carried out wrongfully on Saturday based on misinformation, he alleged.

No notice was issued before carrying out the demolition this morning. As a law-abiding citizen, if the Court before which the matter is pending had decided against me, I would have carried out the demolition myself, he said.

“I am placing this on record to correct any public misimpression about wrongful constructions or encroachment by us”, he said.

“We would be seeking appropriate relief from the Court in relation to the wrong actions carried out by the authorities”, Nagarjuna tweeted.
