Bengaluru: Members of various Rajput organisations in the city spearheaded by Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena today staged a 'Swabhiman Padyatra' to protest against Deepika Padukone Starrer 'Padmavati' for allegedly attempting to distort history.

A number of hindu organisations also joined the protest march taken out from Town Hall to Freedom Park. Senior leaders including Tartara Mutt Seer Pratap Puriji from
Rajasthan besides Karni Sena President Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi who addressed the rally said the film, directed and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali was an attempt to tarnish the rich heritage and culture of the erstwhile Rajputana.

Sati Padmavati on whose life the movie is based, is revered as goddess in many parts of Rajasthan. Queen of Chittorgarh, Padmavati had made supreme sacrifice along with 16000 other women for dignity and honour.Any malicious attempt to demean the sacrifice of the brave women of Mewar would not be tolerated by the Rajput community and the Hindus at large, the speakers at the rally said.
