On 49th anniversary, Kangana Ranaut announces new release date for 'Emergency

New Delhi: Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut's directorial "Emergency" is set to release in theatres on September 6. The newly elected BJP MP chose to announce this on the 49th anniversary of the imposition of the 1975 Emergency that Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday brandished as a weapon against the Congress-led Opposition.
 
Ranaut unveiled a new poster along with her announcement on her official Instagram account. The films release date has been postponed on several occasion earlier.
 
In May, the "Dhaakad" actor announced the postponement of her film owing to her Lok Sabha election campaign.
 
In 'Emergency', the Mandi BJP MP portrays Indira Gandhi, the first woman Prime Minister of India who, and her Congress party has been branded culprits for the imposition of Emergency when freedoms and rights were suspended across the nation.
 
The film focuses on the significant and tumultuous period during the Emergency in India, a chapter marked by extensive political and social upheaval.
 
Along with the poster, Ranaut included a caption that read, "The Beginning of the 50th Year of Independent India's Darkest Chapter, Announcing #KanganaRanaut's #Emergency In Cinemas on 6th September 2024.
 
 
The film is anticipated to offer an intense and dramatic recounting of one of the most controversial periods in Indian democracy, coinciding with the 50th anniversary year of the Emergency.
