Meri Aawaz hi pehchaan hai, Bollywood remembers their favourite Lata Didi

Mumbai: If her 'Awaaz' was her 'pehchaan,' then Melody Queen Lata Mangeshkar probably had the most powerful address in the country. A singer par excellence, an icon in her own way, a living legend. Her sudden demise has left the whole world, especially the Indian sub-continent shocked.

Condolences poured in for the legendary singer from quarters, as diverse as cricket, politics to the common man, who all bade a tearful adieu to their favourite singer. However, nothing comes short to the grief expressed by her fraternity, Bollywood, to which she gave all her life.

Shilpa Shetty shared didi's throwback picture from a recording session and wrote, "Lost a legend today … Many generations will always remember you like this, Lata Mangeshkar Ji. Big loss to the entire nation. Om Shanti, May your Rest in Peace" with namaste and flower emoji.

Director and Producer Karan Johar wrote an emotional note remembering the singer, "Today, heaven truly gained the voice of an angel. I grew up listening to Lata Ji's song, and as I mourn her loss Today -I know with absolute confidence that unki "awaaz hi pehchan" hai & she has left an indelible mark on our Indian culture for many generations to come. And Today, the words of my favourite song resonate very deeply in my heart as I sing -lag jaa gale, ki phir yeh haseen raat ho naa ho… shayad Phir iss Janam Mein mulakaat ho naa ho. Thank you for making an entire nation swoon with your pure voice, we will miss you. Rest in peace, serenity & power."

Abhishek Bachchan shared, "Today, we have lost the greatest of all time! We are all left heartbroken and speechless irreplaceable loss. Rest in glory Lata ji. Thank you for blessings us with your voice, talent and compassion, We are privileged to have lived in the times of the great Lata Mangeshkar. "

Hema Malini: Feb 6 is a dark day for us - the legend who has given us a treasure trove of lilting songs, the Nightingale of India, Lataji, has left us to continue her divine music in heaven. It is a personal loss for me as our affection and admiration for each other was mutual along with red heart and folded hands emojis.
