'Secret Superstar' collects RS 22.75 cr in first three days

New Delhi: Continuing on its strong run, Aamir Khan's diwali release 'Secret Superstar' has earned Rs 22.75 cr at the box office in Indian in its first three days. 'Secret Superstar', which released on Diwali day and earned a decent Rs 5 cr on its opening day, saw a huge jump in its collections on Friday and Saturday. The film earned Rs 9.30 cr on Friday and Rs 8.65 cr on Saturday, taking its three day total to Rs 22.75 cr.

According to trade sources, the film, which got excellent reviews in the media for its brilliant storyline and excellent performances by its cast, managed to collect Rs 22.75 cr due to its excellent word-of-mouth publicity. Trade sources also said that the film is doing excellent business at the metros and the multiplexes.

The film, which was released on Diwali day, took a decent start at the box office, earning around Rs 5 cr on its opening day. The trade sources said that its a decent start considering that collections on the Diwali day are low due to the festival celebrations. The film, which featured Dangal girl Zaira Wasim as the protagonist and Aamir Khan, Meher Vij and Raj Arjun in key roles, received rave reviews from the critics as well as celebrities. Secret Superstar tells the story of a school going girl Insia ( played by Zaira Wasim) who is an aspiring singer.

The young girl faces resistance from her father after which she opts to follow her dreams by posting videos on social media anonymously. The trailer of the film has received a great response raising the anticipation for the film. The songs Main Kaun Hoon, Meri Pyaari Ammi, Sapne Re and I Miss You, provide further insights into the film. The film has been generating huge buzz owing to Aamir Khan- Zaira Wasim returning to celluloid after ‘Dangal’ as well as the content of the film.
