New Delhi: Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat's disqualification from the Paris Olympics 2024 finals has evoked strong reactions from several Bollywood celebrities.
Phogat, who had made history as the first Indian wrestler to reach an Olympic final, was disqualified for being 100 grams overweight during the weigh-in on the final day of the women’s 50kg wrestling event.
Following the disqualification, the internet has been flooded with responses from several celebs.
Actress Alia Bhatt wrote a long emotional note praising Phogat, while Ananya Panday described her as a "Champ".
Vicky Kaushal shared Phogat's photo on Instagram, stating, "A winner beyond medals! @vineshphogat", and Bhumi Pednekar called her a "winner". Kareena Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra also expressed their admiration for the wrestler.
Sonakshi Sinha posted on Instagram Stories: "UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!! I can’t imagine how you’re feeling right now and don’t know what to say except you were, are and always will be a champion!!!! @vineshphogat."
Farhan Akhtar added, "Dear @vineshphogat .. One can only try and imagine how devastated you must be but still not fully understand. Heartbroken for you that the quest ended like this. Samantha Ruth Prabhu took to Instagram to share a photo of Phogat from the Olympics and expressed her support. She wrote in the caption, "At times, the most resilient individuals encounter the toughest obstacles. Remember that you are not alone, a higher power is watching over you.
