31 medical students tested Covid positive at VSSIMSAR Burla in Odisha

Sambalpur: As many as 33 students including 22 girls belonging to first, third and fourth year of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science and Research (VSSIMSAR), Burla were tested Covid positive.

As per information, the students joined in Euphoria- 21 (the annual function of the institute) held on November 13 and 14.

Superintendent of VSSIMSAR Dr L N Nayak said, “We are not yet sure how the mass spreading took place since the students are also attending outdoor and also indoor patients.”

The authority has decided to declare three boys’ and two girls’ hostels as containment zones and maintain complete government protocols so that things could come under control and public would not be panicked,” Prof. Nayak said.

The entire college, hostels and medical areas have been sanitised and all the physical classes in college closed. However, classes will be held on line and all examinations will be conducted offline,” Dr. Nayak said.

The principal of the institute Dr. Jayashree Dora said all the covid positive students have been isolated and put in Covid hospital. (UNI)
