Less than 2 lakh daily nCOV cases registered for first time since April 15

New Delhi: India has registered 1,96,427 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, surging the cumulative tally to 2,69,48,874, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday.
It is for the first time since April 15 that the daily count is lesser than 2 lakh.The death toll has risen by 3,511 to stand at 3,07,231 in the past 24 hours.
 
According to the Ministry, as many as 3,26,850 discharges were recorded during the same period, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,40,54,861.Active cases rose by 1,33,934 and is being pegged at 25,86,782.
 
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 33,25,94,176 samples have been tested so far for coronavirus. Out of this, 20.58.112 were tested in the past one day.
 
On the vaccination front, total 19,85,38,999 people have been administered COVID-19 jabs since January 16, with 24,30,236 people being inoculated since yesterday.

India's vaccination drive set to cross 20 cr-mark
 
Nearly 20 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under nationwide vaccination drive, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said here on Tuesday.
 
As per the provisional report this morning, a total of 19,85,38,999 vaccine doses have been administered through 28,41,151 sessions, These include 97,79,304 Healthcare Worker (HCWs) who have taken the first dose and 67,18,723 HCWs who have taken the second dose.
While a total of 1,50,79,964 Frontline Workers (FLWs) have been administered the first jab, 83,55,982 got their second.
 
The Ministry said that 1,19,11,759 beneficiaries under the 18-44 age group got their first dose. In the age group of 45-60 years, a total of 6,15,48,484 were administered their first dose and 99,15,278 got their second dose.
 
As many as 5,69,15,863 beneficiaries in the above 60 year group received their first dose, while 1,83,13,642 were administered their second dose.
