COVID-19: India reports 1.61 lakh cases, 1,733 deaths in last 24 hrs

New Delhi: India has recorded 1.61 lakh new Covid-19 cases and 1,733 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday.

The active cases stands at 16,21,603, which now comprise 3.90 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has decreased to 94.91 per cent.

Meanwhile 2,81,109 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours, increasing the total recoveries to 3,95,11,307.

On the vaccination front, the government has been continuously speeding up the vaccination drive across the country.

According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry today, 73.24 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far. In the last 24 hours, a total of 17,42,793 tests have been conducted.

“India has administered 163.84 doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive” Ministry data said.

More than 164.89 crores vaccine doses were provided to States/UTs so far. Over 11.48 the crores balance and unutilized Covid-19 vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered, the ministry said. (UNI)
