COVID-19: India sees massive spike in daily infections; logs 3,712 new cases in last 24 hours

New Delhi: India has recorded 3,712, new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally of cases to 4,31,64,544 in the country, as per the Health Ministry data on Thursday.

As many as 5 fresh fatalities were also recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the total death count in the country, as a result of coronavirus, to 52,4641

The active cases stand at 19,509 which now comprise 0.03 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 98.74 percent.

Meanwhile, 2,584 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours, increasing the total recoveries to 4,26,20,394.

On the vaccination front, the government has been continuously speeding up the vaccination drive across the country.

According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry on Thursday, 85.13 Crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far.

In the last 24 hours, a total of 4,41,989 tests have been conducted.

“India has administered 193.70 Cr doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive,” Ministry data said.

More than 193.53 Crore more vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far.

Over 15.16 crore balance and unutilized Covid vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered, the ministry said. (UNI)
