New Delhi: India on Tuesday broke its own record of vaccinating the highest number of individuals against coronavirus in a single day.
The country has administered over 1.16 crore doses so far while the vaccination is still underway in several states, according to the figures shown on CoWIN till 8:10 PM.
This is the second time that India has crossed the magic figure of 1 crore vaccinations in a single day.
On August 27, the vaccination was closed at 1,00,64,376.
Taking to Twitter, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya wrote, "1 Crore, 2 Times, in 5 days Congratulations, as India administers another 1 crore #COVID19 vaccinations today Highest one-day record of 1.09 crore vaccine doses achieved - and still counting!".
Dr RS Sharma, chairman of the empowered group for Covid-19 vaccine administration and CEO, National Health Authority (NHA) also congratulated the citizens and called India's Covid-19 vaccination "biggest in the world."
"India again clocks more than 1 Cr. vaccinations in a day again, today! Surpasses the previous record!!
Congratulations to everybody involved in this massive drive. Biggest in the World!!" He tweeted. (UNI)
