Maharashtra reports 2,971 COVID cases and 5 deaths in last 24 hrs

Aurangabad/Mumbai: Maharashtra reported 2,971 fresh cases of Covid-19 and 5 related deaths, according to health bulletin on Sunday.

With the addition of these new cases, the state’s cumulative case tally has surged to 79,82,334 and the death toll has gone up to 1,47,934.

Meanwhile, 3,515 people were cured and discharged during the day across the state, taking overall count of recoveries to 78,10,953.

The state's recovery rate significantly came down to 97.85 per cent and fatality rate 1.85 per cent.

So far 8,20,82,288 samples have been tested in the state for Covid and of them 79,82,334 have tested positive i.e. 9.73 percent .

Presently, 23,447 active patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals, for Covid, the bulletin added.

Meanwhile, in Marathwada region 89 Covid cases were reported including 31 cases in Aurangabad district, followed by 23 cases in Osmanabad district, 18 cases in Jalna district, 7 in Latur district, 6 cases in Beed district and 4 cases in Nanded, the bulletin further added. (UNI)
