London: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has confirmed the death of one person who had tested positive for the Omicron variant of the Covid-19 in the UK.
According to a BBC report, Johnson said at least one person in the UK has died with the Omicron coronavirus variant.
Warning the people about the new variant, Johnson urged people to get their booster vaccine doses.
Johnson spoke to the media during his west London visit near Paddington.
"Sadly yes, Omicron is producing hospitalisations and sadly at least one patient has been confirmed to have died with Omicron," he said.
"So I think the idea that this is somehow a milder version of the virus, I think that's something we need to set on one side and just recognise the sheer pace at which it accelerates through the population," he added.
On Monday, Health Secretary Sajid Javid said 10 people have been hospitalised in the country with the Omicron variant. (UNI)
