After three months, Shaktipeeth to open from Thursday in Himachal

Dharamsala: Major Shaktipeeths Jwalamukhi, Brajeshwari Dham and Chamunda temple of Kangra district will open for darshan from Thursday after a gap of three months, Deputy Commissioner Kangra Dr Nipun Jindal said on Thursday.

Due to the onset of the second wave of Covid, the movement of devotees in the temples was banned for the last three months but now on the request of people and reduction of covid cases, the government has decided to open all the temples of the state from July 1.

The Deputy Commissioner told UNI that the temples will remain open from 6 am to 8 pm. He said that there will be a complete ban on Bhajan, and Jagran.

Dr Jindal said that the devotees will have to ensure compliance of the COVID protocol. Compliance of social distance will also be ensured in the temples, along with this it will be necessary for all the devotees to wear masks. He said that necessary guidelines have also been given to the sub-divisional administration and the temple administration so that the Covid protocol is not violated at any level.

He asserted that the cooperation of the general public is also necessary to prevent the infection of Covid, for this the security personnel along with the temple administration will continue to guide the devotees regularly. He said that instructions have also been given to take necessary steps to ensure compliance of social distance even for darshan in temples.

He said that it would also be necessary for the priests to use masks and ensure social distancing. The DC said that the Sub-Divisional Officer would regularly inspect the temples and would also take appropriate action in case of violation of the Covid protocol, he noted. (UNI)
