17 Bangladeshis on India trip return with COVID-19 positive

Dhaka: Seventeen Bangladeshis, who went to India for different purposes including treatment, returned home with Corona positive in the last 16 days.

Benapole Check-post Immigration sources said, immigration health officials after checking the documents of people found 16 people infected by Covid-19 in the last 16 days.

Another man, who returned from India without RTPCR certificate, also tested Covid positive.

Sources said, movement of passport holders are going on through Benapole land port and Indian Petrapole land port amid Covid pandemic. Movement of people through other land ports remained suspended temporarily due to restriction by the Indian government.

Syed Moshiur Rahman, sub-assistant community medical officer of health section of Benapole Immigration, said those who went to India are being affected by corona.

They have been advised to follow the health rules, he said, adding that immigration health division remained alert to prevent the spread of coronavirus.       

About 8,955 people returned home from India through Benapole Check-post in the last 16 days. (UNI)
