Washington: US President Donald Trump during a press conference on Sunday hinted that he was “looking into” whether they can ban Chinese technology giant Alibaba in the United States, The New York Times reported.
Trump has been exerting pressure on Chinese-owned companies, by threatening to ban short-video app TikTok from the United States, by citing them as a national security threat.
On Friday ByteDance was ordered by the United States to divest the US operations of TikTok within 90 days, over concerns about the safety of the personal data it handles.
Trump who has escalated the trade war with China has been sharply critical of the country has also praised it for purchasing American agricultural products like soybeans and corn as part of a trade agreement reached late last year. (UNI)
