Dhaka: The United States has requested Bangladesh to provide temporary accommodation to US citizens and allies in Afghanistan.

However, the Bangladesh government has rejected the country's request, said Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen.

The United States has offered Biman Bangladesh Airlines to evacuate thousands of people, including Afghans working for the US military.

However, Bangladesh has rejected the proposal.

"We cannot comply with the US request to grant asylum to some people from Afghanistan in Bangladesh," the foreign minister told the media on Monday night.

According to the planning department of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the United States has offered Biman through a third party to evacuate about 45,000 people from Afghanistan. (UNI)
