Idol vandalism in Shailkupay temple in B'desh; Case filed

Dhaka: In Dautiya village of Shailkupay upazila of Jhenaidah district of Bangladesh, miscreants vandalized the idol of the temple on Thursday night.A case has been filed in the police station Friday. Police have not arrested anyone so far.

Notably, Jhenaidah is a district of Jessohar and Kushtia as well. The distance of this district from Dhaka is 194 kms.ASP Amit Kumar Barman said a case has been registered at the police station. Efforts are on to arrest those involved.

Sukumar Kunda, president of the temple committee, said after entering the temple on Friday morning and seeing the idol in a broken state, the police was informed.

He said they have been worshiping the Kali Mandir of Tagore's house since the Zamindari period. On Thursday night, someone broke the lock and entered the temple and vandalized the idol. Later, the idol's head was dumped on the road half a kilometer away from the temple.(UNI)
