Imran Khan's live speeches banned. Here's WHY?

Islamabad: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has imposed a ban on the live telecast of former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan's speeches after he said that he would file cases against police officials, bureaucracy and a magistrate over the alleged torture to his chief of staff Shahbaz Gill.

Only pre-recorded speeches can be broadcast now with effective monitoring and editorial control, Geo news reported on Sunday citing PEMRA's statement.

According to the PEMRA, the ban has been put in place under Section 27 of the PEMRA Ordinance 2002. The PEMRA notification mentioned Khan's speech at the F9 Park, Islamabad, the broadcaster further reported.

On Saturday, PTI party chief had vowed to file cases against the police, bureaucracy, the Election Com­m­ission of Pakistan over the treatment allegedly meted out to his aid. (UNI)
