Islamabad: At least 30 people were killed and more than 40 injured when a passenger bus collided with a truck on the Indus Highway in Dera Ghazi Khan in Pakistan's Punjab province on Monday.
The bus was en route from Sialkot to Rajanpur.
Commissioner of Dera Ghazi Khan Dr Irshad Ahmed said that rescue officials had reached the site soon after the accident, and the bodies and the injured were being rushed to the DHQ Teaching Hospital DG Khan. The hospital management said that the death toll could further rise as four of the injured were in a critical condition.
Confirming the loss of 30 lives in the incident, Pakistan Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Chaudhry condoled the deaths in the tragic accident.
Fawad urged people to act responsibly and follow traffic rules to avoid road accidents and save people's lives.
Punjab province Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and Interior minister Sheikh Rashid also expressed grief over the incident. (UNI)
