Rohingya Crisis: Myanmar army Chief says U.N. has 'no right to interfere'
, Tuesday, 25 September 2018 (12:52 IST)
Myanmar: The defiant response is Army Chief's first public reaction since a UN Fact Finding Mission urged the Security Council to refer Myanmar's top military brass to the International Criminal Court (ICC). According to the military-run newspaper Myawady, Army Chief  Min Aung Hlaing in a speech said, No country, organisation or group has the "right to interfere in and make decisions over sovereignty of a country."
The 444-page report by the panel says Myanmar commander-in-chief and other top military leaders should be prosecuted for "genocide" against the Rohingya for a campaign that began in late August 2017 that killed thousands and drove some 700,000 of the Muslim ethnic minority into Bangladesh.(UNI)
