Ahmednagar (Maharashtra): Once mentor of Arvind Kejriwal, social activist Anna Hazare, on Monday cast his vote here and lashed out at his estranged protege for committing corruption that they had together in the past fought against.

The 86-year-old appealed to citizens to choose the right candidate as the key of the great nation should not fall in wrong hands.

"Today is a big celebration of democracy and everyone should participate in this celebration and vote for a person of character and integrity," said Hazare.

"As the key of the country is in the hands of the voters, this key should be chosen in the right manner by placing it in the right hands," Hazare appealed.

He also said: "Elect clean candidates. Choose politicians with clean images and not those being chased by the Enforcement Directorate."

Taking a clear shot at the Delhi Chief Minister, Hazare said: "I strongly criticize Arvind Kejriwal for being named in the Delhi liquor scam case. He committed this corruption because he was drowned in the money of liquor addiction. Such people should not be reelected."

Meanwhile in Pune, BJP leader and Kothrud legislator Chandrakant Patil voted in Kothrud. He has transferred his name as a voter from Kolhapur to Pune.

BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Medha Kulkarni with her husband Vishram Kulkarni also cast vote in Kothrud in Pune.
