Kakinada: Prominent Kapu leader and a former Andhra Pradesh Minister Mudragada Padmanabham announced that he would be changing his name as ''Padmanabha Reddy'' as he failed in his efforts in ensuring the defeat of Jana Sena Party (JSP) Chief Pawan Kalyan in the Assembly election from Pithapuram Constituency.
He said he had already prepared the documents required for the name change for the Gazette notification.
Mudragada told media persons at his residence at Kirlampudi that he was abiding by his word that he would change his name as Reddy if he failed in his efforts in ensuring defeat of the actor-turned politician.
''I concede that I failed. But not going back on my word. I will be a Reddy hereafter. Changing my name as Mudragada Padmanabha Reddy with immediate effect. But I will continue to sail with YSRCP Chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy as his follower, No regrets,'' he remarked.
It may be recalled that while joining YSRCP in presence of Jagan Mohan Reddy, he vowed that he will see that the JSP Chief will be defeated from Pithapuram Assembly Constituency and if he fails, he will change his name as Reddy.
Kapu Community leaders opined that the Pawan Kalyan Tsunami in the General elections has personally affected Mudragada Padmanabham more than Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
