Kolhapur: The Bombay High Court has issued a notice to the Maharashtra Home and Police departments for not filing an FIR against 16 people who allegedly misappropriated Rs 8,45,97,000 from the Sihadan Danpeti auction at the Shri Tulja Bhavani temple.

Hindu Janjagruti Samiti's (HJS) Sunil Ghanvat said in a statement that a criminal writ petition was filed through advocates Suresh Kulkarni and Umesh Bhadgaonkar.

The state government had ordered an investigation into the scam but the investigation was not completed as many high ranking officials and leaders were reportedly involved, he said.

Ghanvat said that from 1991 to 2009 the money was taken away from the Sinhasan Danpeti auction.

The Sambhajinagar Bench of the Mumbai High Court has sought replies from the state government by August 22. (UNI)
