113 Kashmiri youths join Army ranks

New Delhi/Srinagar: One hundred and thirteen Kashmiri youths on Monday joined the ranks of the Indian Army at the passing out parade held in Srinagar.After a strenuous training of one year, a total of 219 youths including those from Kashmir, were enthused and happy to be part of the Army, the Indian Army spokesperson said.The Passing Out Parade, depicting graduation of Recruits and their transformation into Young Soldiers, was reviewed by Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen AK Bhatt. 

The parents and relatives of the young soldiers were also present on the occasion. Congratulating the young soldiers, Lt Gen Bhatt said he expects more and more youths from the state to join the armed forces.The Commander also complimented the parents for motivating and guiding their wards to build their future by serving the nation. He appealed to the youth not to tread the path of violence and work for bringing peace in the Valley.

The Chinar Corps Commander also warned that those who take up Arms are enemies of the nation and will be dealt with accordingly.Recruit Firdous Ahmad Khan of Bandipora district received the Sher-e-Kashmir Sword of Honour and Triveni Singh Medal for being adjudged ‘Over all Best Recruit’ and Recruit Navdeep Biehal of Jammu district bagged the Chewang Rinchen Medal for being ‘Best in Firing’.
