14 suspected Rohingyas arrested from New Delhi-bound train

Guwahati: As many as 14 foreigners, suspected to be of Rohingya community, have been arrested from a New Delhi-bound train in New Jalpaiguri railway station, under Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), in West Bengal.
A NFR release said here today that the arrests were made on November 24 night from 02501 Agartala 'New Delhi Special Rajdhani Express during a search conducted by RPF and GRP personnel, based on a tip-off received on the toll-free security helpline 182.
 
The Alipurduar Security Control of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) received the call from an on-train passenger regarding misbehaviour by some passengers of coach no B - 10 of the train.
 
The RPF official of Alipurduar immediately informed the matter to their counterpart at New Jalpaiguri under Katihar Division where the said train was having next scheduled stoppage.
 
The officers and staff of RPF and GRP from New Jalpaiguri immediately got ready to check the said train after it arrived at New Jalpaiguri.
 
During checking, 14 passengers who boarded the train from Badarpur in Assam were detected by the TS (Train Superintendent) of the train of not having any legal document / Identity cards of being an Indian citizen.
 
The tickets details revealed that they were travelling on the fake name i.e. tickets generated in the name of others.All of the 14 detected passengers were de-trained and taken to GRP police station at New Jalpaiguri.
 
During interrogation, it was learnt that all of them have fled away from the "Refugee Camp of Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh" and entered India, and are suspected to be of Rohingya community, the release said.
 
A case was registered by GRP, New Jalpaiguri, under section 14 A of Foreigner's (Amendment) Act, and produced before the Magistrate next day and later sent to judicial custody.(UNI)
