3 JeM militants killed in Tral encounter involved in many cases: police

Srinagar: Three militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), including a self styled commander, killed in a fierce encounter in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Tuesday night, were involved in a number of cases, a police spokesman said here Wednesday morning.
Five security force personnel were also injured in the encounter, first after the Centre announced to resume operations after month-long Ramadan ceasefire.
 
Giving details about the encounter, he said pursuing credible leads regarding the presence of militants in Tral area of District Pulwama, troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), CRPF and state Police launched a joint Cordoned and Search Operation (CASO) on Tuesday afternoon at village Hyena of Tral.
 
He said as the searches were going on, militants fired on the joint search patrol of security forces, which was subsequently retaliated leading to an encounter.
 
He said in the encounter which continued till late in the night, all the three militants were successfully neutralised by the security forces. 
 
The slain militants were identified as Adil, Danish and Qasim, local residents and the third militant identified as Qasim who is believed to be a Pakistani, he said, adding that the militants were affiliated with the  JeM and it is learnt that they were the top commanders of JeM who were involved in a series of  attacks on the civilians and the security establishments in recent times.
 
Moreover, weapons and ammunition have also been recovered from the site of encounter.
Besides, five security forces personnel also sustained injuries in the encounter and have been hospitalised and all are stable.Police have registered a case in this matter and further investigation is going on.(UNI)
