Imphal: Four persons were killed and three others injured when unknown armed miscreants resorted to firing at Lilong, Thoubal district on Monday. To control the situation curfew was imposed at Thoubal, Imphal East and Imphal West districts.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh appealed to the people of the state to maintain peace. He said actions will be taken up against all those who were involved in the incident at Lilong.
Security was beefed up at Lilong to control the situation. Sources said some armed persons demanded money from an individual and a confrontation ensued. The armed persons fled away by firing in which four persons died. The vehicles used by those who demanded money were burnt by a mob. (UNI)
