Prayagraj:The Allahabad High Court on Saturday junked bail plea of minor wife of an aide of slain Kanpur gangster Vikas Dubey.
The case pertains to gunning down of eight police personnel during a raid in Bikru village near Kanpur on the intervening night of July 2 and 3, 2020.

Justice JJ Munir said that mere being a minor does not entitle anyone to get bail.'The crime is not ordinary but the murder of eight policemen. If bail is granted, people's faith in the rule of law will be shaken and the justice system will fail", the court asserted.

Advocate Prabhashankar Mishra said that the petitioner was married to Amar Dubey just a few days before the incident.

"She is not a member of any gang and is innocent. The minor girl is in danger morally, physically and mentally," Advocate Mishra claimed.

Additional Advocate General Manish Goel submitted before the court that the accused is intimidating 48 girls and women in the juvenile home by threatening them. The Superintendent has also made such a complaint.

The injured policemen, who survived the ambush, had given testimonies that many women, including a minor married woman, not only took an active role in the encounter, but also incited their men to kill all policemen. The petitioner supported the husband in the attack, Mr Goel said.

The court said that the child protection home is meant to reform the child offenders, but releasing her on bail will fail justice. The orders of the Juvenile Justice Board and the subordinate court of Kanpur Dehat of not granting bail to the accused were upheld by the Allahabad High Court and the revision application was rejected.(UNI)
