Andhra Pradesh: Traffic constable buys sandals for poor students going home from school barefoot (VIDEO)

Vijayawada: In a rare incident, an Andhra Pradesh police constable, who saw a group of poor students going on the road without sandals, took them to a nearby footwear shop and bought them footwears.

Police constable Venkataratnam, working in the traffic wing at the Penamaluru police station, near here, on Saturday saw a group of students going home from school barefoot under the scorching sun.

Moved by the plight of the students, he took them to a nearby footwear shop and purchased sandals for them. The joy of the poor students knew no bounds. The entire episode was videographed by a person and posted on social media which went viral and many people appreciated the constable’s act.

Andhra Pradesh Home Minister V Anitha responded to the incident on Sunday. She tagged the video on social media ‘X’ and said: “I congratulate traffic constable Venkataratnam. He responded with a human face and purchased sandals to a group of poor students with his own money. He will definitely be an inspiration to many. Constable Venkataratnam is a real hero. Hats Off to the constable Venkataratnam’s valuable service to the poor".
