New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday termed the “torching of a Dalit colony” in Bihar's Nawada as a horrific incident which has exposed the National Democratic Alliance's “indifference towards the Dalits and deprived”.
On social media handle X, Kharge said, "The terror of bullies on the Mahadalit colony in Nawada, Bihar is another proof of the jungle raj of the NDA double engine government."
"It is extremely condemnable that around 100 Dalit houses were set on fire after firing and everything of the poor families was snatched away," Kharge said.
He alleged that the BJP and its allies were indifferent towards the Dalits and the deprived and the state was witnessing in the rise in criminals and anti-social elements.
"Prime Minister Modi is silent as usual, Nitish is carefree in his greed for power and the NDA allies are speechless," Kharge said.
Meanwhile, condemning the incidents, Rahul Gandhi said, "Burning down an entire colony of Mahadalits in Nawada and destroying the houses of more than 80 families is highlighting the horrifying picture of injustice against the Bahujans in Bihar."
"The cries of the Dalit families who have lost their homes and property and the terror created in the deprived society by the echo of the fierce firing were also not successful in waking up the sleeping government of Bihar," Gandhi said.
He alleged that such anarchist elements find shelters under the leadership of BJP and its allies.
"The silence of the Prime Minister is a seal of approval on this big conspiracy," Gandhi said.
He demanded strict action against all the culprits and provide justice to the victim families by rehabilitating them.
