Another suicide rocks Army camp in Srinagar, Soldier hangs self

Srinagar: An Army soldier hanged himself in the summer capital, Srinagar, on Thursday.
This is the second suicide by Army personnel during the last 24 hours in Srinagar city.
Official sources said that panic gripped Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar when a jawan was found hanging from the ceiling of his room on Thursday. “The jawan, identified as Anoop Kumar, was immediately taken to a hospital where he was declared brought dead,” they said.
“It was not immediately clear why he took this extreme step,” they said, adding police has registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances which forced him to end his life.
 
A senior Army officer, identified as Lt Colonel Sudeep Baghat Singh, committed suicide by shooting himself with his service weapon in an Army camp at Khohmoh in the city outskirts on Wednesday.
 
The trend of taking extreme step among security forces engaged in counter-insurgency operation has not stopped even after the authorities introduced Yoga and Art of Living to help them (security forces) to come out from the stress.(UNI)
