Ayodhya prepared for Deepostav, set to create world record by lighting 12 lakh diyas today

Ayodhya: Ayodhya is all set to host a grand 'Deepotsav' festival on Wednesday with a 'Shobha Yatra' of tableaus depicting 11 episodes of Ramayana starting from Saket College here on Wednesday morning.

Today is the epic day of the 5-day 'Deepostav' function commenced on November 1.

Officials here said that at 10 o'clock the procession of Lord Ram, along with tableaux started from Saket college.

The procession will reach Ramkatha Park along with the tableaux at around 1400 hours.

Union Tourism and Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy will be the chief guest of the programmee at Ram Katha Park. State Governor Anandiben Patel and CM Yogi Adityanath will also be present.

Lord Ram-Sita and Laxman will arrive by helicopter in the program. They will symbolically 'welcome' lord Rama and goddess Sita according to Hindu tradition, followed by the 'Rajyaabhishek' of lord Rama.

The dignitaries will then reach the Saryu ghat and perform an 'aarti', followed by the lighting of the earthen diyas.

The dignitaries will also inaugurate Bharat Milap and Ramayana picture exhibition too.

As a part of the festival, 9 lakh earthen lamps will be lit to set a new world record on the Saryu Banks, also known as Ram ki Paidi, in Ayodhya.

However, the government has set a target to lit 12 lakh diyas across Ayodhya district.

Around 12,000 volunteers would be deployed to light the lamps. Besides 36,000 liters of mustard oil will be used to let these earthen lamps.

Last year, 5,51,000 diyas were lit in the holy city. (UNI)
