BIG tragedy on Dev Uthani Ekadashi in Uttar Pradesh: Mound collapses on women digging yellow soil; 4 dead, 5 injured (VIDEO)

Kasganj (UP): Four persons, including three women and a girl, were killed and five others were injured when a mound of mud caved in Kotwali Nagar area of Kasganj district here in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, police sources said here.

Police sources said that the incident took place in Mohanpura where women of nearby villages had gone to dig yellow mud on the occasion of Dev Uthani Ekadashi. "While they were digging the mud the mound caved in and several women were buried under it," they said.

After getting the information District Magistrate Megha Rupam and Superintendent of Police (SP) Aparna Rajat Kaushik and a rescue and relief operation was launched under their supervision. "During the rescue operation some women were pulled out of the debris and taken to the Etah district hospital where three women and a girl were declared dead," they said.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rajesh Bharati said that rescue operation continues as there is a possibility that some women are still buried under the debris.
