BJP picks Sushil Kumar Modi for Bihar RS bypolls, LJP set to lose the lone seat

New Delhi: Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi was named as the party's candidate for the Bihar Rajya Sabha by-elections, scheduled to be held on December 27.
The election was necessitated due to the death of former Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Ram Vilas Paswan.       
 
Party General Secretary Arun Singh, in a statement issued here on Friday, said the party's Central Election Committee decided to make Mr Modi a candidate in the by-election for the vacant seat of the Rajya Sabha.
 
In the recently-concluded Bihar Assembly polls, the NDA had emerged victorious, winning 125 seats in the 243-member Assembly. 
 
Subsequently, BJP had changed Sushil Kumar Modi with Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi, who took oath as Deputy Chief Ministers.Mr Modi may be inducted into the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Cabinet in the future. (UNI)
