Hyderabad: A devastating road accident on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) in Patancheru, Sangareddy district, claimed the life of 33-year-old Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) MLA Lasya Nanditha, who represented the Cantonment area in Secunderabad.

The accident occurred in the early hours of Friday when the car carrying the MLA and her driver lost control and collided with a road railing.

The incident occurred as the occupants were en route from Secunderabad to Sadasivapet. Tragically, Lasya Nanditha lost her life on the spot, while her driver sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a private hospital for treatment.

The MLA's body was shifted to Patancheru Area Hospital for a post-mortem and would later be taken to her residence in Chikkadpally.

Police have initiated an investigation, and a case has been registered concerning the accident.

This marks a tragic recurrence for Lasya Nanditha, who had previously suffered injuries in a road accident while returning to Hyderabad from Nalgonda. She had successfully contested and won from the Cantonment area in an election last year, following her father's demise due to a heart attack on February 19.
