According to reports, the suspect contacted Deepa through a broker and called her to meet him in Thoraipakkam. After she failed to return home, her brother used the 'find my device' feature on her phone and discovered she was last seen near Thoraipakkam.
Deepa's brother reported her missing at the Manali police station on Wednesday night. The following day, the Thoraipakkam police found a suitcase containing Deepa's dismembered body parts.
The accused, Manikandan, was tracked down with the help of CCTV footage. During questioning, he confessed to killing Deepa with a hammer after a dispute over money. He then dismembered her body, stuffed the body parts in a suitcase and dumped it in Thuraipakkam.
