Kawardha (Chhattisgarh): At least 15 people were killed after a pickup vehicle overturned in Chhattisgarh's Kawardha area on Monday, police said.
All the workers had gone to the forest to pluck tendu leaves, and while returning from there, the pickup vehicle overturned uncontrollably and fell into a deep ditch.
In this accident, 15 people died and seven laborers were injured.
The accident took place near Bahpali village, under Kukdoor police station.
Kabirdham Superintendent of Police, Dr. Abhishek Pallava, confirmed the incident.
He said that as soon as the accident was reported, a police team was rushed to the spot.
Expressing condolences, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on X (previously Twitter) : "The road accident in Kawardha, Chhattisgarh is extremely painful. My condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in this accident. Along with this, I wish for the speedy recovery of all the injured. Under the supervision of the state government, the local administration is engaged in helping the victims in every possible way."
