Congress leader Digvijay Singh arrested for staging Dharna in Bengaluru

Bengaluru:The Bengaluru police on Wednesday has arrested senior Congress leader and the former Madhya Pradesh Chief minister Digvijay Singh, for staging dharna near a resort.
The Congress leader, who had tried to enter the Ramana Resort, where the 21 dissented Congress MLAs, were staying, was arrested by the police, after a high drama of event.
 
Mr Singh, who was prevented from entering the Resort, had a verbal clash with the Police, and refused to go back from the place.
 
The Congress leader, had also resorted to sit-on dharna, in protest against the police personnel, who had communicated him that no Congress MLAs, are willing to meet him.
 
Several local Congress workers, and a Karnataka MLA who were also present during the protest were also taken into custody by the police.
 
It may be recalled that as many as 21 MLAs, who also happened to be the supporters of former Congress leader, Jyotiraditya Scindia, had submitted their resignations, during their stay in the resort, which is yet to be accepted by the Madhya Pradesh Assembly speaker, Prajapathi.
 
The Kamalanath led Congress government in Madhya Pradesh, was in peril, following the rebellion from the Congress MLAs, as Governor, had directed the chief minister to prove his majority in the house.
 
The issue has been gone to the Supreme Court, as the Speaker of Assembly had postponed the session till Mar 26 as a precautionary measure over the spread of COVID-19 infection in the state.(UNI)
