COVID-19: MHA suspends pilgrimage to Kartarpur Sahib

New Delhi: Union Home Ministry on Sunday temporarily suspended the registration  and pilgrimage to Sri Kartarpur Sahib as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of  deadly coronavirus.

According to spokesperson for the Ministry, the suspension will be effective from 0000 hrs on March 16 till further order.

The Centre had suspended all passengers movement through all Immigration Land Check Posts (ICPs) at Indo-Bangladesh border, Indo-Nepal border, Indo-Bhutan border and Indo-Mynmar border except a few ICPs in eight states from the midnight of March 14.

However, on Nepal and Bhutan borders, the existing travel arrangements for Indian and Nepalese, Bhutanese nationals, either by air or through the approved ICPs in seven states Assam, Bihar, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, UP and West Bengal have been kept open.

The Government has also suspended the participation of foreigners in the border haats from the 0000 hrs on March 15  until further orders whereas the  suspension of the operation of the Indo-Bangladesh cross border passenger train during the period March 15 to April 15 or till further orders whichever is earlier, has came into force.

The Centre has also intensified health inspections at all these entry points and any traveler whether Indian or Nepalese or Bhutanese or from any other country showing COVID-19 symptoms or with a recent travel history to one of seven COVID 19 outbreak countries namely Italy, Iran, China, Spain, France, Germany and Republic of Korea shall be subjected to quarantine in the appropriate facility of the State or Central Government.
