Kolkata: Indian Cricket is set to get empowered with Sourav Ganguly being elected as the next BCCI president unopposed.  However, the tenure of Bengal tiger will be merely 10 months.
Dada may have bagged the esteemed post of the president but he has incurred the loss of approx 7 crores. It is to be noted that the BCCI president has to refrain himself from brand endorsement. Besides Sourav can also not sit in the commentary box in live matches. That's not all, Ganguly can not become coach of Indian cricket team which was in his bucket list.

So why Sourav Ganguly is happy to bear the loss for a post that will last nearly a year. According to the sources, the reason behind it is the political aspiration of former cricket captain and masterstroke of Home Minister Amit Shah.

There is a buzz in the political circles of Kolkata that Ganguly is ready to become the BCCI President because he can become the face of BJP's Chief Ministerial post in the upcoming Bengal assembly elections. A major reason for this presumption is that he was also supported by the ruling BJP for the post of BCCI President.

It is also well known that Sourav Ganguly has met Union Home Ministers Amit Shah, Anurag Thakur and Hemant Biswa Sharma on Saturday night in Delhi. Since then it was believed that he could be the next BCCI President.

Till the end of Ganguly's term as BCCI president, west Bengal elections will be inching closer. However, Ganguly has clearly stated on this issue that no politician is in touch with him after CM Mamta Banerjee congratulated him.

With his aggressive approach in the cricket field, Sourav Ganguly's political debut will be worth a watch. Before that, the former left-handed batsman has to do many right things for Indian cricket as an administrator.
