Delhi braces up for Republic Day with anti-terrorist measures

New Delhi: As Delhiites got ready for the 75th Republic Day on January 26, anti-terrorist measures and security were intensified in the national capital, to face any untoward situation.

According to Rakesh Asthana, Delhi Police Commissioner, anti-terrorist measures have been taken for the past two months as Delhi is always a target for terrorists and anti-social elements.

Counter Drone technology is being used for air space security. Use of sub-conventional aerial platforms like para-gliders, para-motors, hand gliders, unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned aircrafts systems and drones have been prohibited from January 20 to February 15.

As many as 71 Deputy Commissioner of Police, 213 Assistant Commissioner of Police and 753 inspectors have been deployed for security arrangements during Republic Day.

Over 27723 Delhi Police personnel, including 65 companies of CAPF, have also been deployed across Delhi. Security has been intensified at Delhi borders and checking of vehicles at all entry-exit points is been done for the last 15 days.

Police personnel have been deployed at strategic points and the number of pickets have been increased for checking vehicles as well as people. Anti-sabotage checking and tenant verification are being conducted to keep a strict vigil and avert any untoward incident in the national capital.

The measures also include intensified police patrolling, conducting old car dealers checks, tenant verification and deploying extra pickets on strategic points to keep vigil on anti-social elements. (UNI)
